The First Lady, Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton
stayed at Glenlo Abbey Hotel in Galway on
the 11th & 12th of May 1999, following
an invitation to Galway from Dr. P.F. Fottrell,
President of the National University of
Ireland - Galway.
During her visit, Mrs. Clinton received
an Honorary Doctorate in Law from the University
and was made a Freeman of the City of Galway,
an honour previously bestowed on former
Presidents - John F. Kennedy and Ronald
Reagan.
Glenlo Abbey Hotel was the choice of The
White House for The First Lady's Visit to
the West of Ireland.
